  1. ok, there has to be better than what I did.

    my last calculation was that the area was equal to one half of the square of the difference of the product of 74 and 370 and 164 squared.

    It is pleasing that my answer agrees with the other commenter, but...

    there has to be a better way.

    I thought about Heron, but the subtractions looked messy.

    I dropped an altitude, wrote two pythagorean equations, solved for the position of the altitude on the base, then for the altitude, then for the area.

    Can I jump quicker to the end? Clean things up? Or the neatest approach is entirely different?
