The Weight of a Brick

If a brick balances with three-quarters of a brick and three-quarters of a pound, how much does a brick weigh?
~Sam Loyd, Cyclopedia of Puzzles, 1914

I won't bother with a separate post: answer

  1. Yep! I've decided to try that new way of indicating a short answer - hold your mouse over the answer and the little popup should appear. It works in Google Reader and in several browsers that I've tested. The benefit is that people can still work on the problem without seeing the answer till they're ready.

  2. 1/4 brick weighs 3/4 libs, so the whole brick will weight 3/4 lbs * 4 = 3 lbs
